Chirag Paswan said a blueprint for the next government will be prepared soon after the NDA achieved an unprecedented victory in the Bihar elections by winning 202 seats.

After the NDA’s resounding victory in Bihar, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan shared a major update on the government formation, saying that a blueprint for the next government will be prepared soon after discussions.

Paswan said the next government will be formed before November 22, when the tenure of the Bihar Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end. “It will be done soon. Discussions are going on. A sense of clarity will come on the blueprint of the government,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“I think by tonight, I will also speak with senior Union Ministers, and the blueprint will be ready by today or tomorrow. We have to form the government before 22nd November. It will be done,” Paswan told reporters.

His remarks came after the NDA ‘tsunami’ swept away the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan in Bihar by winning 202 out of 243 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, and the Janata Dal (United) finished a close second with 85.

The other allies of the ruling coalition also registered high strike rates, with the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPRV) winning 19 seats, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAMS) winning five, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha winning four seats. This is the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-mark in the assembly polls.

The RJD, which was the single largest party in the outgoing assembly, received a major setback, winning less than 30 seats, a performance that is likely to put question marks on the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav. The Congress performed even worse, winning six out of the 61 seats it had contested.

Meanwhile, the Jan Suraaj Party, the much-hyped political outfit floated by former poll strategist Prashant Kishor, which failed to make a mark in the elections, claimed that many of its supporters ended up voting for the NDA “out of fear that the RJD may win and bring back the jungle raj”.

After the NDA victory, Chirag Paswan met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna to congratulate him on the coalition’s decisive victory. Sharing a photo from the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote that he had extended “hearty congratulations and best wishes” to Nitish Kumar for the “resounding majority.”

He criticised the opposition for “misleading people” by attempting to build a “false narrative” of tensions between the JD(U) and the LJP(RV). “There was a narrative used against us that the JD(U) and LJP(RV) have issues and will dent each other. The results have given a clear answer,” he said.

On Saturday, leaders of the NDA alliance appeared to have got down to the brass tacks of forming a new government in the state by holding talks at Nitish Kumar’s official residence at 1, Anne Marg. Following these internal consultations, the NDA will convene a joint legislative party meeting, where the alliance’s legislative party leader will be formally chosen.
