Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday stepped up his attack against the Election Commission of India, alleging the mass deletion of voters from Congress strongholds in Karnataka during the 2023 Assembly election. In response to the allegations, the BJP mocked Rahul Gandhi and questioned his claims, which he termed as “hydrogen bomb”, and said that his “bomb was a dud”.

Issuing a response to the Congress leader’s claim, BJP leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned Rahul Gandhi’s remarks and stated that his claims are an insult to the people of the country.

“Rahul Gandhi neither understands the Constitution nor the law. Since 2014, he has been claiming that all of Modi ji’s victories are fake — this is an insult to the people and voters of this country. He talks about bringing a bomb, but it turns out to be a dud. I strongly condemn Rahul Gandhi’s statements,” Prasad added.

Adding to Prasad’s claims, BJP Leader and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “They were calling it a hydrogen bomb — is this what a hydrogen bomb looks like? Now they’re saying it was a dud.”

“They lost, and what they should’ve done is accept defeat before the people and say — ‘Yes, you defeated us, no problem, we’ll work hard and come back to you again.’ But no — instead, they want to drag the courts into it, or blame someone else entirely.”

“If there was vote rigging in Karnataka, how did your government come to power there? How did they form the government in Himachal?” the BJP leader questioned.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi also commented that despite his failed vote chori allegations, Rahul Gandhi chose not to learn from his mistakes and said his latest claims were “laughable”. He also pointed out that the Malur seat in Karnataka, which Congress won, was annulled by the Karnataka High Court, which ordered a recount due to alleged irregularities.

“The Aland example he quotes is in Karnataka where the Congress has won and the claim that voters were deleted online, is laughable. Rahul is unaware of the election process, period. Does he not know that voters cannot be deleted online? Why did he not speak about Malur Assembly seat in Karnataka?” he said on X.

“Rahul Gandhi’s new fairytale – ‘vote chori’! 🤦‍♂️After his failed attempt on his vote chori allegations, which was debunked and exposed CONgress for the fake claims, yet again Attention chori, Rahul Gandhi chooses to not learn from earlier mistakes. “Incidentally 2 days back, CONgress which had won assembly seat in Malur, Karnataka was disqualified by the HC of Karnataka, because of election malpractice and a fresh counting of votes has been ordered. The real vote chor is CONgress. After losing 20+ elections on EVMs, maybe it’s not the machine, it’s the CONgress that’s faulty,” the minister further said.

Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Yogesh Kadam also slammed Rahul Gandhi over his “hydrogen bomb” claims and stated that the Congress leader is not able to digest his loss in the recent elections and has therefore come out with this fake vote chori allegations.

“He is insulting the people of our country. He is doing all this in view of the upcoming Bihar elections. But, if he continues to do this, he is losing elections in Bihar too,” Kadam added.

Following BJP’s criticism, Congress MP Tariq Anwar supported Rahul Gandhi’s claims regarding vote chroi and stated, “Whether the Election Commission did something or didn’t, there was definitely some irregularity.”

“Rahul Gandhi has made allegations with solid evidence. If the Election Commission filed an FIR, what was the conclusion?” he added.
