Idaho student murders: Kohberger kept women’s IDs as keepsakes; prosecutors detail eerie glovebox discovery

Bryan Kohberger, the man convicted of brutally murdering four University of Idaho students, had bizarre keepsakes belonging to women he knew before the massacre, a new report has revealed. According to KIMA, citing Latah County prosecutors, investigators discovered two ID badges stashed inside the glove compartment of Kohberger’s car following his arrest in December 2022. The discovery was made while authorities were searching his parents’ home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania. One of the IDs belonged to a woman who worked with Kohberger during his time as a security guard at the Pleasant Valley School District, where he was employed from 2016 to 2021. The identity of the second woman remains unknown, and prosecutors did not disclose further details. Both women told authorities they were “surprised” to find out that Kohberger had possession of their identification, but neither reported ever being harmed or threatened by him. Kohberger was found guilty last month of murdering University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in the early hours of 13 November 2022. The four were stabbed to death in an off-campus home, in a case that sent shockwaves across the United States. He declined to speak during the trial when offered the chance to explain why he committed the savage killings, leaving families and investigators without closure. Many continue to examine the evidence for clues into his motive or psychological state. Earlier this week, newly released police bodycam footage showed a traffic stop involving Kohberger in Latah county, capturing him speaking more than he did throughout his entire trial. “I’m just being honest with you,” he told the officer, New York Post reported citing the report. “Just for future reference, I’m obviously not this person, like I told you I wasn’t wearing my seat belt — do people lie to you about that? Say I lied to you about that?” Kohberger eerily asked the deputy during the stop. Less than three months after that footage was recorded, Kohberger drove the same white Hyundai Elantra to Idaho, where he carried out the horrific murders.
