BJP slammed Priyanka Vadra. (PTI)
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya on Wednesday attacked the Gandhi family and said that they should not be allowed to think they are above the judiciary. The statement came as he critiqued Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for her comments against the Supreme Court’s observations regarding her brother Rahul Gandhi’s alleged remarks about the Indian Army.
Taking to X, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya wrote, “If the Courts won’t decide who is national and who is anti-national, then who will? The smug entitlement of the Gandhi family is not just baffling – it reeks of contempt for the judiciary.”
“This brazen defiance is a direct challenge to the authority of the Supreme Court and cannot go unchecked,” he said, adding, “The Court must take suo motu cognisance, just as it did in the case of BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. The law must apply equally to all. The Gandhis cannot be allowed to believe they are above it.”

Priyanka Gandhi Backed Rahul
Malviya’s remarks came after Priyanka Gandhi backed her brother Rahul after the Supreme Court’s rebuke.
“With due respect to the honourable judges of the Supreme Court, they do not decide who is a true Indian. It is the job of the opposition leader to question and challenge the government,” the Wayanad MP said on Tuesday.
On Monday, the Supreme Court halted the proceedings against Rahul in a Lucknow court over his comments on the army during his December 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra. However, it criticised the Congress leader, stating that a “true Indian” would not make such remarks.
The bench questioned why he made such statements without any evidence, advising that if he was a true Indian, he would not say such things.
Members of the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc labelled the Supreme Court’s observations against Rahul as “unwarranted,” emphasising that political parties have the responsibility to discuss national interest issues.
