Jan Suraaj party founder Prashant Kishor repeated his corruption allegations against Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary, demanding his resignation and threatening action against him for owning property worth Rs 200 crores by illegal means.

Choudhary, the national general secretary of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and Bihar’s Minister of Rural Work Department, was accused by Kishor of indulging in corrupt practices and acquiring land worth Rs 200 crore in the last three years through “dubious and illegal means”. Choudhary has rejected these allegations as “baseless”.

“We stand by what has been said about Ashok Chaudhary’s property. He has acquired property worth Rs 200 crores. He said on camera that if even one kattha of land comes up, I will be a slave to Jan Suraaj. Now that the papers have been issued, you say that this is not your land,” said Kishor at a public event.

“If it is your land, then don’t be a slave to Jan Suraaj, prepare to be a slave to the people of Bihar and resign… If you don’t resign, we will go to the Governor and the court. Action should be taken against him,” he added.

Kishor Demands Withdrawal Of Defamation Notice

The Jan Suraaj Party founder also demanded a “public withdrawal” of the defamation notice by Ashok Choudhary filed against Kishor over the corruption allegations, asking him to tender an “unconditional apology” for defamatory remarks or face a civil suit seeking Rs 100 crore in damages.

“If Ashok Choudhary fails to do so, I will make public more of his financial irregularities, worth Rs 500 crore,” Kishor said. He had also claimed that a trust, whose members included the mother-in-law of his daughter, Shambhavi, a Lok Sabha MP, had “received a donation of Rs 100 crore”.

Kishor called the defamation notice a tool of political pressure, stating that these allegations were in the public interest and that accountability of leaders was essential in a democracy.

“All those associated with the trust, including a close relative of Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, should come forward and disclose the source (of income), else their integrity will be in doubt,” he claimed.

Prashant Kishor Targets Deputy CM

Kishor also trained his guns at Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, alleging that he escaped trial in a decades-old murder case by “falsely” claiming to be a minor before the Supreme Court. He said the Jan Suraaj Party would seek an appointment with the governor on Tuesday to “press for Choudhary’s sacking” and urged action from Nitish Kumar and the BJP.

Kishor said Choudhary had faced trial in a case involving the murder of six people in his native Tarapur in 1995. “To claim that he was then a minor, barely 14 years of age, Kishor submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate concerned an admit card issued by the Bihar School Education which stated that he was born in 1981,” he said.

“Choudhary moved the Supreme Court, claiming that he was barely 14 when the mass murder took place and they let him off since juveniles could not be put on trial,” he said. “However, if we look at Choudhary’s affidavit of 2020, he states his age at the time to be 51 years. Taking that into account, he would have been in his 20s in 1995. These facts make him liable for prosecution. He should be in jail till he is acquitted.”

Samrat Choudhary, a former state BJP chief who holds several portfolios in the Nitish Kumar cabinet, dismissed the allegations and mocked Kishor for behaving like an “investigative journalist.”
