Congresswoman Ilhan Omar asked a reporter to ‘f-off’ when the Democratic leader was asked whether more of her colleagues should be travelling to visit El Salvador to meet Abrego Garcia, whom the Donald Trump administration deported. “I think you should f**k off,’ Ilhan Omar said catching the reporter by surprise as he asked, “Who should (f**k off)?” “You,” Ilhan Omar repeated.
As the video went viral with MAGA calling it a new low for Omar, Omar defended and put out a statement on X. “I said what I said. You and all you miserable trolls can f*ck off,” Omar wrote.
“Trump has said a lot of things to reporters but I don’t recall ‘F*ck Off’ being one. Hats off to Ilhan Omar for a new low,” one wrote.
“Ilhan Omar’s behavior is a disgrace to Congress. @SpeakerJohnson do you only censure those who exhibit behavior that is unbecoming to the position on national television? We are tired of the foul behavior that Congress members throw at common people,” another wrote.
The question about Garcia came as Maryland senator Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador and met Garcia. But Democrats’ support for Garcia did not end there. Four House Democrats, Reps. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, Maxine Dexter of Oregon, Maxwell Frost of Florida and Robert Garcia of California, went to Salvador to look into the state of the Maryland man.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia lived in the US for more than a decade, but he was not a US citizen. In 2019, there was a court ruling that barred Garcia from being deported. Trump administration said there was an oversight of that earlier ruling, but asserted that Garcia is a member of the MS-13 gang. President Trump released a photo of the tattoos on Garcia’s knuckles and claimed that those symbols stand for M, S, 1 and 3.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration will have to bring Garcia back, but the US administration said it is not in their hands as Garcia is now in El Salvador and President Nayib Bukele will have to take a call on Garcia’s release. When Bukele came to meet Trump in the White House, he said it’s preposterous to release a criminal.
