The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday traded barbs at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his “hydrogen bomb” allegation that the election system in the country “is already dead”, saying that the nation should understand that Rahul Gandhi is irresponsible and is demeaning himself as Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition.

While addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad took a jibe at Gandhi, saying that whenever he listens to the latter inside or outside the Parliament, it takes time to understand what he is trying to say.

“Today he has said, ‘maine atom bomb phoda hai ab mai hydrogen bomb phodunga‘… How are the atom bomb and the hydrogen bomb related to the elections?… Why is Rahul Gandhi demeaning himself as the Leader of Opposition… The nation should understand, Rahul Gandhi is irresponsible,” he said.

Prasad further took an aim at Bihar assembly LoP Tejashwi Yadav, saying that why he has been reduced to a number 2 player during their yatra in the state.

“… Throughout their yatra, Rahul Gandhi was always in the front in the car, and Tejashwi Yadav stood behind him… Patna has two MPs, one of whom is me and the other is Misa Bharti. She was nowhere to be seen… Why has Tejashwi Yadav been reduced to a number 2 player in Bihar? Congress has no vote here and is completely at your mercy and you have become a number 2 player…” he added.

The BJP leader also hit out at the opposition leaders over their repeated allegations of elections being rigged and their accusations against the poll body of indulging in “vote theft” for the BJP.

They are deeply pained by the fact that they cannot capture booths now, which is why they demand ballot paper time and again… Their whole agitation against the Election Commission and the SIR is centred around ‘give us the right and might to capture booths, tear away ballot papers, and let infiltrators vote’…” he said.

What Rahul Gandhi Said?

Earlier today, the Lok Sabha LoP said his party will soon come out with a “hydrogen bomb” of revelations about “vote chori” and after that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to show his face to the country.

“I want to tell the BJP people. Have you heard of anything bigger than an atom bomb, it is a hydrogen bomb. BJP people, be ready, a hydrogen bomb is coming. People are soon going to find out the reality of vote chori,” Gandhi said.

“In the coming time, I am guaranteeing you that after the hydrogen bomb (comes), Narendra Modi ji will not be able to show his face to the country,” the former Congress chief said.

His remarks came after the INDIA bloc allies held a march marking the culmination of the opposition’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’that covered 1,300-km and passed through 110 assembly constituencies covering 25 of the 38 districts ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.

Gandhi was joined by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Vikassheel Insan Party chief Mukesh Sahani, CPI (ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby, CPI’s Annie Raja, TMC MP Yusuf Pathan, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, and other INDIA bloc leaders.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, launched by Rahul Gandhi from Sasaram on August 17, was aimed at highlighting the alleged assault on people’s right to vote through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
