A tragic incident unfolded in Bacabal, northeastern Brazil, when a TV reporter standing in the middle of a river was alarmed after he unknowingly stepped on the body of a missing 13-year-old schoolgirl while filimg a live segment about her disappearance. A video of the incident captures the reporter suddenly flinching and leaping back after feeling something brush against him underwater.Frazao had entered the river on June 30 to demonstrate its depth and highlight the hazards in the area where the missing girl, Raissa, was last seen swimming with friends. During his report, he warned viewers about the river’s dangerous currents and deep holes, urging caution for anyone entering the water.Visibly shaken, he quickly retreated to shallower waters and told his crew, as reported by The Sun, “I think there’s something down here at the bottom of the water.” He added, “No, I’m not going—I’m scared. It felt like an arm—could it be her? But it might be a fish too. I don’t know.”After the broadcast, firefighters and divers resumed their search and discovered Raissa’s body at the exact spot where the live segment had taken place. It is still unclear if Frazao actually made contact with the body during his report.A post-mortem confirmed that Raissa died by accidental drowning, with no signs of physical trauma. She was buried on the evening of June 30. In her memory, her school held three days of mourning and the local community came together for a candlelit vigil.During his report, Frazao had warned about the river’s dangerous conditions, including strong currents and deep holes, urging caution for those near or in the water.
