Speaking about the spokesperson, Kovai Satyan said, “Whatever decision our general secretary’s decision is that is final and biding upon all, and everybody falls in line. The actions of EPS resonate with actions like how our leader used to act.”
“The decision to change the role of our party leader, Mr. Sengottaiyan, is binding upon everyone in the party. Nobody can challenge or question the general secretary’s decision, and everybody falls in line, and everybody’s core heart and support is behind our general secretary for whatever decision he takes for the welfare of our party,” he added.
On Friday, Sengottaiyan called upon party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami to “bring back” into the party fold all those who left AIADMK and face the Assembly election as a unified force.
“If Palaniwami fails to initiate steps to bring about unity in the AIADMK in ten days, then we will unite all like-minded people and ensure the party gets strengthened,” the former minister told reporters.
However, Sengottaiyan’s plea for rapprochement on the principle of “marappom, mannippon” (forget and forgive) did not go very well with the party.
A senior AIADMK leader said that the party has reiterated many times that the expelled party members won’t be welcomed back.
“Sengottaiyan is only attempting to create confusion in the party. A majority of us are with Palaniswami,” a senior leader said.
