Karnataka Congress leader allegedly abused a Booth Level Officer(BLO) over an issue regarding the voter list in Chikkaballapur.
An audio clip allegedly involving Chikkaballapur Congress taluk president Nagesh Reddy is going viral on social media, triggering political embarrassment for the party.
In the clip, Nagesh Reddy, said to be a close supporter of MLA Pradeep Eshwar, is heard using abusive language while speaking to a Booth Level Officer (BLO), identified as Shivashankar.
The audio, accessed by News18, features a conversation with Shivashankar, a teacher posted at a junior college in Chikkaballapur, currently assigned voter list-related duties.
During the phone call, Nagesh Reddy allegedly hurled abuses at Shivashankar and questioned him over his alleged support to the BJP.
The incident is linked to tensions surrounding the preparation of the voter list, with allegations that the Congress leader attempted to intimidate the BLO.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday deferred discussions on the SIR of electoral rolls in the state.
Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is an exercise undertaken by the Election Commission of India to ensure that all the eligible Indian citizens are inducted in the electoral roll and no ineligible voters are included in it.
