Congress MLA Kashappanavar alleged: “They have prepared a list of 55 MLAs and have sent BJP agents to their houses.” “We will be at ease for three years,” replied BJP’s Vijayendra

Amid discussions around potential leadership changes continue in Karnataka, Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has prepared a list of 55 Congress MLAs to be targeted by central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to destabilise the current government.
Kashappanavar, who fears he may be among those listed, alleged that these threats dissipate if an MLA chooses to defect to the BJP, implying a coercive strategy. He pointed to the recent raids conducted at the residences of MLA Bharat Reddy, former minister B Nagendra, and MP E Tukaram as evidence of politically motivated actions.
Responding to the allegations of the BJP’s bid to come to power, party president BY Vijayendra said there is fear in the Congress party that there could be a “tsunami” in the government in coming months.
“And that’s why attempts are being made, a conspiracy is underway, to change the narrative by giving different statements. The administration in the state has completely collapsed. There is a competition between the Chief Minister and MLAs over who should be the CM. Amid this, the people of the state are struggling. We in the opposition will be at ease for three years. There’s no anxiety about that. We will come to power in the state on our own strength in 2028, and we don’t need to fight with them,” he said.
What Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar alleged
“They have always come to power through conspiring and pitting people against each other. Even now they are trying to destabilise this government,” Kashappanavar said.
“ED and CBI raids are being conducted to threaten our MLAs, saying if you don’t come to BJP there will be action by the CBI and ED. Even I have this threat, but they can’t do anything to me. They have prepared a list of 55 MLAs, they have sent BJP agents to their houses and threatened them,” he alleged.
These remarks from Kashappanavar come as a direct retort to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s recent accusations of MLAs being “bought” by the Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar factions in the Congress.
The Congress MLA challenged the BJP to secure power through a clear electoral mandate rather than resorting to what he termed as intimidation tactics.
