A stellar opening stand by Chetan Sharma (31) and Akash Rawal (37), followed by a late blitz by Man-of-the-Match Anoop Dev (67), powered Delhi Media XI to a commanding six-wicket victory over Burari Lions in the Matri Swar T20 tournament on Friday.
Chasing a formidable total of 188, Delhi Media XI reached the target in 19.3 overs, losing just four wickets. Abhijeet Singh chipped in with a brisk 32, adding crucial runs in the middle overs.
For Burari Lions, Pawan Tyagi was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets. Earlier, Arpit Sharma’s scintillating century (102) had lifted the Lions to a competitive score, but his effort ultimately went in vain. Media XI bowlers Amit Chaudhary, Lakshay Rawal, Abhijeet Singh, and Montu claimed one wicket apiece to keep the opposition in check.
Saumojyoti Singha Choudhury of PTI impressed behind the stumps with sharp wicketkeeping, saving crucial runs and contributing to the team’s all-round performance.
Post-match, Mahant Varun Sharma of Marghat Wale Mandir congratulated the winning side and lauded the spirit of the game, urging players to continue upholding the values of fair play.
The victory underlined a complete team effort from Delhi Media XI, who now look ahead with growing confidence in the tournament.
