Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched a special song with students singing in 21 languages for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17.

Titled ‘Namo Pragati Dilli – Baal Swar Se Rashtra Swar Tak’, the song has been prepared by the Delhi education department.

“For years, PM Modi has worked for Delhi like a lifeline. Despite this, the previous governments have continuously criticised him and used inappropriate language. Today, our government expresses its heartfelt gratitude to him,” Gupta told reporters during the launch.

She thanked school students for wishing Modi on his birthday and said she will ensure that their handmade greeting cards reach him on Wednesday.

“I promise to send your cards today itself so that he gets them tomorrow… He will like the way you have wished him in multiple languages in this song,” she said.

Gupta further said a special morning walk has been organised as well on Kartavya Path as part of celebrations marking the Prime Minister’s birthday.

‘MODI STEALS HEARTS NOT VOTES’

Earlier, at the ‘Vishwakarma Puja’ programme held at VR Metropolitan Mall in Delhi, Gupta slammed opposition parties over their “vote chori” allegation against the BJP.

She said Modi “steals hearts” and does not need to steal votes and, like makhanchor (another name for Hindu deity Krishna depicted as a child who loves fresh butter), he is “Mann Ka Chor“.

Heaping praise on him, the chief minister said he has earned international respect, with countries like even the United States “saluting” India. She said he has instilled a “new energy” in the country through his leadership.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces abuse because they (opposition) are troubled at why the country is progressing, the poor are being benefited, and even countries like the US are saluting India,” she said.

She alleged that the opposition parties are indulging in “dirty” politics. “They allege ‘vote chori’ but Modi steals hearts and he has stolen hearts of us all,” she said.

She came down heavily on the Gandhi family, accusing it of nepotism while asserting Modi is a “saint”, who devoted his life to the service of the country and never benefited anyone in his family.

“(He) gave land to his brother-in-law, post to his sister and made his mother prime ministerial candidate and himself indulges in whatever nobody understands,” she said in an apparent attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress has been at the forefront of accusing the BJP of “vote chori” (vote theft) ahead of the Bihar assembly elections. It has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding with the BJP government at the Centre to influence election results.
