Nikki Haley's son says US must limit international students, claims some are ‘spies for foreign governments’

Nalin Haley, son of former US ambassador and South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, has called for strict limits on international students entering American universities, warning that some may be acting as “spies for foreign governments.”Speaking in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, the 24-year-old Indian-origin argued that the United States must prioritise native-born Americans as part of a “America First” agenda.Haley also repeated his claim that naturalised citizens should not be allowed to hold public office, insisting that only those raised entirely in the United States can fully understand the country’s values. He went further, calling dual citizenship a “stupid idea” and arguing that individuals with ties to another nation should not serve in the US military. Nalin has been an active anti-immigrant loudmouth which some of the MAGA base respects. Earlier this month, Nalin also called to end H-1B visas and halt all legal immigration. Haley has argued that foreign workers are taking opportunities from young Americans, saying that several of his own friends with strong educational backgrounds are still struggling to find jobs. He directly linked this unemployment to an oversupply of migrant workers. His comments come as Donald Trump has taken a softer stance on H-1B visas, saying the US government cannot stop the influx of foreign skilled workers because the country “lacks talent” and needs immigrants to fill crucial sectors such as technology and defence. The MAGA base has attacked the US president for going back on his “America First” agenda, but the White House has defended Trump.
