Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday made it clear that he is “not going anywhere” and he is “here to stay”, as speculations grow about his political future with the nearing Assembly Elections later this year.
Nitish slammed the RJD and Congress and said that they “did nothing for the people”, and it was only under his rule that work was done for everyone, including women.
“I’m not going anywhere now. I’m here to stay. Before 2005, the government did nothing for the people. We started working for everyone,” the Chief Minister said at a public event.
Highlighting his government’s achievements, he said that women were earlier ignored completely but are now given “attention and support” for their empowerment.
“We prioritized women in governance, provided 50% reservation in panchayats and 35% reservation in jobs. We’ve worked for men, women, and Dalits alike,” he said.
While referring to his political alliance with the RJD and Congress twice in 10 years, Nitish said, “We were with them for a short time, and they started doing all kinds of things.”
Earlier last month, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had denied any chances of Nitish Kumar’s return to the Mahagathbandhan, stating that he has become an “extra baggage”.
“Never. Not a chance… It is okay to forgive someone after they make one mistake. But now he has made the same mistake twice… Anyhow, wherever Nitish Kumar goes now, he will just be an extra baggage, a ‘bojh’,” he had said.
