Congress MP Praniti Sushil Kumar Shinde went a step ahead and used a word to mock the military operation, following which it was expunged from Lok Sabha records

From saying India wanted an “Operation Tandoor” to comments like “Trump ko chup karao nahin toh McDonald’s ko bhagao” and “Op Sindoor was tamasha for media” – many opposition MPs seemed to have mishandled the discussion around ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

Congress MP Deepender Hooda said India should “shut the mouth of Donald Trump” or “shut down McDonald’s in India” – a comment that made even his colleague Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, seated behind him, break out in laughter. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, meanwhile, simply smiled wondering at the connection between the US President and the food giant. Hooda then went on to say the US did not have to ride on both horses.

The Samajwadi Party’s lead speaker, Ramashankar Rajbhar, said the country was so angry after the Pahalgam terror attack that people wanted “Operation Tandoor” rather than ‘Operation Sindoor’. No one could really understand what he meant.

Rajbhar was the third speaker in the Lok Sabha after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Congress deputy leader in the House, Gaurav Gogoi.

Congress MP Praniti Sushil Kumar Shinde went a step ahead and used a word to mock the military operation. The word was later expunged from Lok Sabha records. The daughter of former home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, she questioned what had been achieved through the operation.

And let’s not forget Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee – the unofficial king of controversy in Parliament (cue Jagdeep Dhankhar). He stirred yet another row by referring to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) as “Pakistan-Governed Azad Kashmir” while making his speech. The BJP has objected to this.
