A fresh political storm erupted as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “voter fraud” on Thursday, alleging that BJP MP Rakesh Sinha, who had earlier cast his vote in the Delhi elections in February, had again voted in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections held today.

Terming his allegations as a “big expose”, Bharadwaj alleged that BJP Rajya Sabha MP and RSS ideologue Rakesh Sinha cast his vote in the Delhi elections from Dwarka in February, and then cast his vote in the Bihar elections from Siwan today, calling it an “open and shut case of fraud”.

“He teaches at Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University, so he couldn’t even show his Bihar address if he knew it. Do you think that if we catch the BJP government’s theft, they will mend their ways? Absolutely not, they will indulge in open and blatant theft.”

He also shared pictures of several people, including Rakesh Sinha, who he claimed cast their votes in Delhi and Bihar. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also backed Bharadwaj’s allegations, saying, “BJP leader Rakesh Sinha voted in the Delhi Assembly elections in February 2025; voted in the Bihar Assembly elections in November 5. Under which scheme is this happening?”

Rakesh Sinha Clarifies After Opposition Backlash

Responding to the allegations, Sinha clarified that while his name was on the voter list in Delhi during the February elections, he had changed his address to Manser Pur in Bihar’s Begusarai due to his active involvement in the state politics. He also threatened to file a defamation case over the allegations.

“I had no idea that politics could be so shallow. Those who question those who question the faith in the Constitution should think a hundred times. My name was in the Delhi voter list. Due to my active involvement in Bihar’s politics, I got my name changed to the village of Manser Pur (Begusarai). Should I file a defamation case for this accusation?” he said on X.

… https://t.co/jxPllpCpvT— Prof Rakesh Sinha (@RakeshSinha01) November 6, 2025

Sinha said his ancestral home was in Begusarai. “I am not a man uprooted from the soil. I came to my village, taking leave and spending money to cast my vote. Who is talking about the values of the Constitution? The Aam Aadmi Party is a blot on democracy.” He also shared a photo of his updated voter list, where his address was listed in Manser Pur, Begusarai.

Saurabh Bharadwaj hit back at Sinha’s clarification, saying how could he change his address when he was still teaching in Motilal Nehru College. “Where is it mandatory to change votes for political activism? How long will BJP silence people by scaring them with defamation cases? Your government has filed many cases; one more is fine.”

The AAP leader said Sinha created a new voter ID on April 28 for Bihar, but was seeking votes for the Delhi University Teachers’ Association on September 4. As per the law, a person’s vote should be from where they work and live and not from their ancestral village, Bharadwaj said.
