Guilty Trump-Linked Pastor Robert Morris Flashes Smile On Arrest Over Child Sex Abuse Charges
The founder of one of America’s most powerful megachurches, with close ties to U.S. President Donald Trump and his evangelical circle, pleads guilty to child sex abuse. Robert Preston Morris, 64, founder of the Dallas-area Gateway Church, entered plea deal in an Oklahoma court to five counts of lewd and indecent acts against a child. Morris resigned last year after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in the 1980s. Shockingly, after entering his plea deal, Morris appeared calm and even disturbingly smiled as police arrested and escorted him out of the courthouse. Morris was not only a pastor, he was also politically active, once serving on Trump’s Evangelical Advisory Board.
