If a war can be stopped in one region, then surely other wars can be stopped as well—including the Russian war,” Zelenskyy said through a post on X.The two leaders also discussed Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and measures to strengthen the country’s air defences, Zelenskyy said, “as well as concrete agreements that we are working on to ensure this.”The leaders also discussed the possible supply of Tomahawk long-range missiles, according to two sources familiar with the matter, as reported by Axios. Tomahawk missiles would enable Ukraine to target deep into Russian territory, including Moscow, with Kyiv arguing they could pressure Putin to come to the negotiating table.The call took place a day after Russia carried out a major strike on Ukraine’s energy grid, cutting power in parts of Kyiv and nine other regions, as cited by AFP.Trump, who unveiled the first phase of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on Wednesday, previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in August but was unable to secure a peace agreement.Relations between the two leaders have improved significantly since their tense televised encounter at the White House in February.Since then, Trump has adopted a tougher stance toward Moscow while showing support for Ukraine.
