Parliament Budget Session 2025: The first part of the Parliament’s Budget session is set to be held between January 31 and February 13, with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman likely to table her eighth straight budget on February 1.
Parliament budget session will start with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on January 31, followed by the tabling of the economic survey.
Going with the earlier trends, the first part of the session is marked by a debate in both Houses on the Motion of Thanks on the president’s address and ends with the prime minister’s reply in both houses of the Parliament.
As seen over the last few years, this budget session might also see the finance minister giving her Budget speech in Parliament at 11 am on February 1, 2025. However, there has been no official statement or confirmation of the date from the Finance Ministry as yet.
According to official circulars, the BSE and NSE will remain open on February 1, 2025, despite it being a Saturday, due to the Union Budget 2025-26. The exchanges stated in a circular: “On account of the presentation of the Union Budget, the Exchange shall conduct a live trading session on February 1, 2025.” Typically, the Indian stock market is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
After the recess, highly placed sources said the second part of the Parliament session will commence in the second week of March and conclude in the first week of April. The tentative period is from March 10 to April 4, they said.
