JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha on Friday gave a clear signal to Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, to join politics. Speaking to reporters at Patna airport, Jha said, “all party workers and supporters want Nishant to work for the party”.

Nishant was also present with Sanjay Jha at the airport. “This is all the blessings of the people. The people have reposed their faith in us once again,” Kumar told reporters. He added his father, Nitish Kumar, has fulfilled his promises in the past and will do so this time too.

“The party people, the well-wishers of the party, the supporters of the party, and everyone in the party want Nishant ji (son of CM Nitish Kumar) to come and work for the party. All of us want it. Now he has to decide. He has to decide when he will take a decision and work in the party,” the JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha told reporters.

Last week, Satish Kumar, Nitish Kumar’s elder brother also expressed a desire for his nephew to join politics. “If required, I will speak to the CM about Nishant,” he said.

Although Nitish Kumar has not commented on his son’s entry into politics, reports suggest it to be a part of the JD(U)’s broader succession plan.

Earlier, in an interview with ANI before Bihar elections, Sanjay Jha mentioned that the party would respect Nitish Kumar’s decision regarding his son’s political debut. He stated that since Nitish Kumar founded the JD(U), he should make any decisions about his son Nishant Kumar’s political career.

“This is a party formed by Nitish Kumar. Now, after this election, whatever call he has to take on this issue, he can take that call. But this much is certain: if Nitish Kumar decides, then the entire party will accept it,” Jha had said.
