Picture perfect (finally): Colorado hangs Trump’s 'glimmery' portrait - approved by the man himself

A new portrait of Donald Trump, this time with his approval, now hangs in the Colorado Capitol after the last one drew his ire for not being to his liking. The new portrait, which Trump reportedly requested to be printed with a golden border to make it “glimmer” in the light, closely resembles his official second-term photo displayed in over 1,600 federal buildings and many more by choice across the US, according to the Guardian.“Thank you to the Highly Talented Artist, Vanessa Horabuena, and the incredible people of Colorado — Now on display in the Colorado State Capitol!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. This comes as a great relief for the administration as, last time, Trump lashed out at artist Sarah Boardman for making a “purposely distorted” portrait of him.“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before. I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one,” he had said. The Horabuena portrait, donated by the White House about a month ago, was installed this week following a decision by Lois Court, former state lawmaker and chair of the Capitol Building Advisory Committee, which oversees artwork selection for the Denver Capitol.“There was a blank on the wall. It seemed inappropriate. We knew that the White House had sent us this replacement and it simply made sense to put it up,” Court said. The portrait, along with those of other past presidents, may not stay up for long as the advisory committee is weighing a plan to replace them with portraits of former governors for Colorado’s 150th statehood anniversary next year.
