PM Modi congratulated VV Rajesh, the first BJP mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, during his Kerala visit, sharing wishes and photos on X after BJP won 50 of 101 wards in civic polls.

PM Modi on Friday congratulated the first BJP mayor in Kerala, VV Rajesh. He was elected mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation on December 26 after the saffron party won 50 of the 101 wards. During his visit to Kerala, PM Modi congratulated Rajesh in person and shared pictures with him on X.

PM Modi’s post on X reads: “Personally congratulated Adv. VV Rajesh Ji on becoming the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram. Wished him every success as he and his team work towards bringing positive change, responsive governance and renewed momentum to the city’s development.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in poll-bound Kerala on Friday. He addressed multiple public meetings and launched several developmental projects. This is PM’s first visit to the state after the BJP won the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation from the LDF, in the recent civic poll.

VV Rajesh, a seasoned politician and lawyer, took oath as the mayor of Thiruvananthapuram after BJP defeated the Left.

During his visit, PM Modi interacted with a delegation of the Akhila Kerala Dheevara Sabha. Sharing the images of the meeting, PM praised the organisation’s work in the welfare of fishermen.

An excerpt from PM’s post on X reads, “Over the last decade, the NDA Government has worked extensively for fishermen. Our emphasis has been on ensuring better markets and technology for them. This work will continue with greater vigour in the coming times.”

The PM also met Swamis associated with the Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust, Sivagiri Mutt, Varkala.

PM Modi also launched the PM SVANidhi Credit Card and disbursed PM SVANidhi loans to one lakh beneficiaries.
