
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kerala on Friday morning to launch various developmental projects and flag off new train services in the poll-bound state. This is Modi’s first visit to the state after the BJP won the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation from the LDF, in the recent civic poll.

Prime Minister landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport at around 10.25 am, as per the airport officials. He was received by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other senior dignitaries.

Upon arrival, PM Modi held a massive road show in Thiruvananthapuram. The road show was organised from the Thampanoor overbridge to the Putharikandam Maidan. Thousands of people, including party workers and supporters holding BJP flags and wearing saffron colored caps, gathered on the streets and welcomed the PM by showering flowers on him.

PM Modi flagged off three Amrit Bharat Express trains and a Thrissur-Guruvayur passenger train which will help to enhance regional rail connectivity between Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

PM laid the foundation stone for a CSIR-NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub here and launched the PM SVANidhi Credit Card– a UPI-linked, interest-free revolving credit facility.

PM launched the PM SVANidhi Credit Card and disbursed PM SVANidhi loans to one lakh beneficiaries. “A new beginning is also happening from Kerala for the entire country for welfare of poor. PM SVANidhi Credit Card has been launched today,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi addressed a public gathering and began with the traditonal greeting “Namaskaram!” and wished his long time friend and P P Rajesh who was sworn in Mayor in Thiruvanthuparam after the BJP in the city’s municipal elections ,for the first time came to power in any Corporation in Kerala.
