TL;DR

  • Qatar Airways resumes flights to Aleppo on August 10, 2025.
  • Service starts with three flights a week; moves to four in September.
  • This marks the airline’s second Syrian destination after returning to Damascus earlier this year.

Qatar Airways is taking another step in rebuilding its operations in Syria. Starting August 10, 2025, the airline will resume direct flights to Aleppo with three weekly services. From September 1, these will increase to four flights a week. This comes months after the airline restarted operations in Damascus earlier in 2025, marking its first return to Syrian skies since suspending flights back in 2012. The move signals a gradual re-entry into the Syrian market, with Aleppo becoming the second city now linked to Doha. Qatar Airways says it’s part of a wider push to improve regional connectivity through its hub at Hamad International Airport.

Flight Schedule and Details

Flights will begin from August 10. Qatar Airways will run three flights a week to Aleppo starting mid-August. These flights will operate on: Monday, Wednesday and Sunday From September 1, a Thursday flight will be added, making it four times weekly.Flight times:

  • Doha to Aleppo (QR414): Departs 08:30, arrives 11:40
  • Aleppo to Doha (QR415): Departs 13:55, arrives 17:00

Why This Matters

  1. Rebuilding Ties With Syria: The return to Aleppo follows the earlier restart of flights to Damascus. Together, these routes point to Qatar Airways’ slow but steady return to the Syrian market. The country had been cut off from much international air travel due to years of conflict. These flights mark a shift.
  2. Expanding Regional Access: Aleppo joins Qatar Airways’ network of over 170 destinations. For travelers, this means more access in and out of northern Syria. For the airline, it’s a step in reconnecting the region to its global routes.
  3. Connecting Through Doha: All flights route through Hamad International Airport in Doha, a growing hub for travel between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. For Syrians flying out of Aleppo, this opens the door to global destinations, many of which are not directly accessible otherwise.

Return to Damascus in Early 2025

Qatar Airways quietly restarted flights to Damascus earlier this year. That marked the airline’s first return to Syria in over a decade. The decision signaled a cautious re-entry into the country, with Damascus chosen as the initial hub due to its capital status and central location. It set the stage for broader regional access and showed that the airline was testing the ground for future expansion. Aleppo now follows as part of that plan.
