Indian Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda has once again sparked a controversy after he claimed that the grand old party’s foreign policy should focus first on the neighbourhood, as he stated that he has been to Pakistan and felt at home.

Pitroda, in an interview with IANS, further went on to claim that when he went to countries like Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh, he never felt like he is in a foreign country; instead, these neighbouring countries always “felt like home” to him.

“Our (Congress) foreign policy, according to me, must first focus on our neighbourhood. Can we really substantially improve relationships with our neighbours?… I’ve been to Pakistan, and I must tell you, I felt at home. I’ve been to Bangladesh, I’ve been to Nepal, and I feel at home. I don’t feel like I’m in a foreign country,” Pitroda was quoted as saying.

BJP Hits Back

Responding to Sam Pitroda’s controversial remark, BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari attacked the Congress Party, saying, “no wonder UPA took no tough action against Pakistan even after 26/11.”

“Rahul Gandhi’s blue-eyed boy & Congress Overseas chief Sam Pitroda says he ‘felt at home’ in Pakistan. No wonder UPA took no tough action against Pak even after 26/11. Pakistan’s favourite, Congress’s chosen!” he wrote on a post on X, sharing Pitroda’s interview clip.

Pitroda On George Sorors

Indian Overseas Congress chief also responded to the BJP’s upped ante in its allegations of links between the Congress and the “anti-India” George Soros Foundation, saying, “This is all a lie.”

“George Soros has nothing to do with the Congress party. I’m telling you, I know it. I’ve worked on these issues, and I’ve heard people talk about it. They have no idea. They just lie. They have no clue. There is no proof,” Pitroda added.
