Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, speaking after the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday, cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of routinely making false and misleading statements. Addressing reporters after the meeting, Rijiju said, “The Prime Minister clearly stated that when Rahul Gandhi makes false statements, even the Supreme Court has had to comment on it. This is a lesson for all of us — never to say anything untrue.”

The NDA Parliamentary Party meeting was held in Delhi and was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reflected on the coalition’s journey since its formation in 1998. Rijiju said the Prime Minister shared insights from his leadership across three consecutive terms and laid out the roadmap for the NDA’s future.

Praise For Armed Forces And Passage of Resolution

A resolution was passed during the meeting acknowledging the success of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev — two recent military operations launched in response to terrorist threats. The NDA lauded the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces, with Rijiju saying the meeting paid its respects to the sacrifices and valour of the soldiers.

Opposition Under Fire

Rijiju also hit out at the Opposition for stalling Parliamentary proceedings. “This is the third week of the session, and not a single bill has been passed. The Opposition is continuously disrupting Parliament,” he said, calling on all parties to cooperate in legislative work.

He further criticised Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly misleading the House by claiming security forces other than marshals were deployed in the chamber — a claim, Rijiju said, was refuted by the Chair. “Only Marshals are allowed to enter the House. Kharge Ji’s letter to the Deputy Chairman was completely wrong and intended to mislead the nation. We reject it,” he said.

Rijiju also accused the Congress Party of prioritising dynastic politics over constitutional values. “The Congress considers one family above the Constitution. They do not respect Parliament or the country,” he said.

Bills On Tribal Reservation, Manipur Expected

Rijiju informed that the government will introduce a bill to provide reservation to tribals in the legislative assembly in the Lok Sabha and aims to pass a bill related to Manipur in the Rajya Sabha. “We will begin our efforts today, but for that, the Opposition must stop the chaos,” he added.

As the NDA gears up to push ahead with its legislative agenda, the government has made it clear that parliamentary disruption will not be tolerated, and that misleading the public — especially by senior leaders — will be publicly countered.
