Rare pink diamond heist: How Dubai Police retrieved $25 million stolen gem; arrests 3 in just 8 hours

Dubai Police on Monday announced they had foiled the theft of a rare pink diamond valued at $25 million, arresting three suspects within hours of the crime.“The Dubai Police General Command has foiled the theft of a very rare pink diamond, valued at $25 million,” the police said in a statement carried by UAE’s official news agency WAM.According to police officials, a diamond trader who had flown in from Europe was lured to a villa by a gang posing as wealthy clients. The jewel was stolen when the dealer arrived for the bogus inspection, the statement added.Video footage shared by authorities showed CCTV clips of the gang as well as the blurred faces of the arrested men.In an emergency call released by the Dubai Media Office, the dealer is heard saying: “I came to meet a client to sell a diamond to them. They looked at the stone and now… it’s stolen.”Acting swiftly, specialised police teams used advanced surveillance tools and artificial intelligence technologies to track down the suspects. Within eight hours, three men from an unspecified Asian country were arrested, the police said. “Thanks to the efforts of specialised and field teams, and by using the latest artificial intelligence technologies,” it added.Dubai, a global hub for diamond trading, has long projected itself as one of the world’s safest business centres. Police said the swift recovery highlighted the city’s commitment to maintaining security and trust in its markets.
