Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening visited the BJP headquarters in Guwahati, the capital of Assam, marking his first visit to the recently inaugurated party office. During the visit, the Prime Minister held an informal yet deeply engaging interaction with party leaders, including MPs, MLAs, and office-bearers, leaving many of them visibly moved.

After a brief introduction, the Prime Minister chose not to sit on the dais. Instead, he walked over and took a seat among the leaders, reflecting the tone of openness and humility that defined the interaction, sources told CNN-News18.

The candid discussion went far beyond routine political deliberations. Drawing from his own journey within the organisation, the Prime Minister shared personal experiences from his early days as a party worker. “I am the Prime Minister but I am a karyakarta 24×7,” he told the gathering.

Addressing young and aspiring leaders, PM Modi emphasised the importance of remaining rooted at the grassroots and reminded them that the responsibility of an elected representative does not end with winning an election. He underlined that public representatives have a continuous role to play in serving society and contributing to its overall well-being.

The Prime Minister stressed that humility and dedication to service are the true hallmarks of a party worker. He also highlighted that it is the organisation that is supreme and empowering, reinforcing the idea that individual roles derive strength from collective effort.

Several leaders present at the meeting later shared that they were deeply touched by the Prime Minister’s words, describing the interaction as one that felt more like guidance from a senior family member than a conventional political address.

Earlier this month, PM Modi had held a detailed interaction with BJP MPs in Delhi at the Parliament complex, where he urged them to focus on public issues and strengthen their engagement with grassroots workers. He had also emphasised that elected representatives must remain among the people and never place themselves above them.

The Guwahati meeting was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State Pabitra Margherita, BJP state president Dilip Saikia, and party’s election in-charge Baijayant Panda, among others, in a closed-door interaction.
