Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday responded to the Opposition MPs’ protest march over the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR), stating that he had never witnessed such an irresponsible opposition. He further added that the leaders of Congress and the INDIA bloc don’t believe in the Supreme Court, Parliament, or the Election Commission.

“They only attack our constitutional bodies. Why do they do so much drama on daily basis? I have not seen such an irresponsible opposition. Important bills are listed – We can’t tolerate more,” he said.

His remarks come as Delhi police on Monday detained INDIA bloc MPs, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, citing no permission for protest after the MPs held a march against the Election Commission over the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of “voter fraud” during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The MPs shouted slogans of “vote chor” as they marched towards the Election Commission office at Nirvachan Sadan but were stopped by the police before reaching it.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and accused him of lying and spreading anarchy.

“Rahul Gandhi ji is under pressure from anti-national forces. He and the INDI alliance are defaming democracy, tearing it to shreds, and tampering with the dignity of constitutional institutions,” he said.

उन्होंने चुनाव आयोग,… pic.twitter.com/mY9sNDUf01

He added, “Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly lying and wants to spread anarchy. He has defamed the Election Commission, the Supreme Court, and the CAG. He raised questions about the valor of the army, and when the army presented facts, he was silenced. He questioned EVMs without evidence, then abandoned EVMs after the Supreme Court’s rebuke and has now moved on to SIR.”

Chauhan asked if Congress won in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh due to irregularities in the voter list or the governments formed in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Jharkhand were due to the mistakes of EC.

“Did Rahul ji, Priyanka ji, and Akhilesh Yadav ji also win elections due to irregularities in the voter list?,” he added.
