Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai may have been one of Bollywood’s golden couples in the ’90s, but since their break up, there has been no looking back, until now.
Himani Shivpuri on working with Aishwarya
Actor Himani Shivpuri spilled the tea on one of the hottest forgotten romances that had tinseltown hooked. Speaking on Red FM Podcasts, she recalled how her bond with Aishwarya began on the sets of ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalein’ and only grew stronger through the years with them going on to star in projects like ‘Humara Dil Aapke Paas Hai’ and ‘Umrao Jaan’.
“She was not very established back then. We were very close then,” Shivpuri said.
On Aishwarya and Salman’s romance
It was during this time, she revealed, that Bollywood’s most eligible bachelor, Salman Khan became a regular presence on the film sets “This was the time when she and Salman were going very strong, so Salman used to come every night and leave in the morning,” she shared.
Salman’s fallout with Aishwarya
She also recalled witnessing the star couple’s fallout, including one incident while Aishwarya was filming with Abhishek Bachchan for a Rohan Sippy film. “Salman had come. He was telling me, ‘Kya hai? Isko samjhao. Waheeda Rehman ko dekhe. Apne aap ko boht khubsurat samajhti hai (What is this? Explain to her. Look at Waheeda Rehman. She thinks she’s very beautiful)’ I used to tell him to calm down, to stay quiet,” Shivpuri recounted.
Reason for the couple’s split
While she held back on the possible reason for their split, she respected their decision to part ways, saying, “It didn’t work out. They will know best what the problem was between them.” Aishwarya went on to marry Abhishek Bachchan and the two welcomed a daughter Aaradhya, together. Salman, on the other hand, is rumoured to be in a relationship with Iulia Vantur.
