Reports of discord within the Yadav family emerged after Rohini reposted a social media comment questioning Sanjay’s prominent position at Tejashwi’s rally in Bihar.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday refuted reports of a rift with his sister Rohini Acharya, saying she is his elder sister and made several sacrifices for the family. His remarks came amid a discord within the Yadav family after Tejashwi’s aide Sanjay Yadav was spotted occupying the prime seat at his rally.
The rumours were cast into the spotlight after Rohini reposted a social media comment that termed Sanjay’s presence at the prime spot as an insult to RJD supremo Lalu Yadav. Her social media posts over the last few days have also sparked speculations about a fresh rift in the Yadav family.
However, Tejashwi dismissed the rumours, saying, “Rohini didi is my elder sister. She has raised me. The sacrifice made by her is rare to find in the present day. She donated her kidney to my father.”
“People of Chhapra wanted her to get a ticket from Chhapra, and Lalu ji listened to the people’s demands and suggestions of the party workers and gave her a ticket… Rohini continues to strengthen the party and boost our confidence,” he further told reporters.
Rohini’s Recent Comments
Even before the controversy over Sanjay Yadav, Rohini has been making cryptic posts for the past few days. “I have been performing my duties as a daughter and a sister and will continue to do so. Neither am I hankering after a post, nor do I have any political ambitions. For me, self-respect is supreme,” she said on X last week.
In another post, she shared a video while she was being taken to the operating theatre for the surgery that saved her father’s life in 2022. “For those who are ready to make sacrifices, putting their own life at stake, fearlessness, boldness, and self-respect run in the blood,” she wrote.
On Wednesday, Rohini voiced distress over “people with dirty minds” alleging that it was a “lie” that she had donated a kidney to her ailing father. “It is my open challenge to people with dirty minds and their patrons, if they prove that I curried favours with anybody for anyone and that it is a lie that I have donated a kidney to my father, then I shall retire from politics and public life,” she said.
A medical graduate who chose to become a homemaker after marriage and settle down with her husband and children in Singapore, Rohini earned immense respect after donating a kidney to her father and remains an influential voice in the RJD camp.
Last year, she contested on an RJD ticket in the Saran Lok Sabha seat, which her father had represented years ago, but failed to wrest the constituency from BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a several-term MP.
