Studying in Dubai? Here’s how to get the new dh 100‑a‑month student parking pass
Parkin launches a dh 100 monthly student parking pass for zones A–D within 500 m of campuses/Representative Image

TL;DR:

  • Parkin now offers a dh100/month parking pass for students and teachers within a 500 m radius of their campus, covering zones A, B, C, and D.
  • Eligible students also have the option to apply via RTA seasonal parking cards specifically for their zones.
  • Set-up is fully digital via the RTA Dubai app, Mahboub chatbot, or at RTA Customer Happiness Centres.

Dubai’s latest update in public transport convenience lets students and private school staff with vehicles pay just dh 100 per month for a parking subscription. Offered by Parkin, this new pass is valid in public roadside and plot parking zones (A, B, C, D) within a 500-meter radius of educational campuses, offering major savings on peak-hour and everyday parking costs.

What is the student parking subscription?

The student parking subscription, managed by public parking operator Parkin, allows eligible university and school students (and teaching staff) to park without daily fees in specified zones near their campus. Subscribers pay dh 100 per month, with access valid in zones A, B, C, and D, so long as they remain within 500 meters of their educational institution. This replaces the previous reliance on daily fees, providing consistent and affordable parking for student drivers.

Student card vs RTA permit

Dubai’s RTA also issues Student Parking Seasonal Cards, which can be used in the same zones near campuses. These are valid per semester or year and issued at dh 300 for 3 months, dh 600 for 6 months, or dh 1,200 annually. Applicants must upload proof of enrollment and vehicle details. While both options serve similar zones, the Parkin pass is ideal for monthly flexibility; the RTA card offers longer-term validity with official registration through the government portal.

How to apply

Parkin student subscription (dh 100/month)

  1. Visit Parkin’s website or find the ParkinUAE social media announcement.
  2. Provide your student ID details, vehicle registration, and campus info.
  3. Pay dh 100 via app or online.
  4. Pass is activated, parking at roadside or plot zones within 500 m of campus is allowed.

RTA student permit (Seasonal card)

  1. Use the RTA Dubai app or web portal, or visit an RTA Customer Happiness Centre.
  2. Select “Apply for Student Parking Permit”, upload enrollment certificate, Emirates ID, vehicle registration (or registered relative’s vehicle).
  3. Choose duration (30 days to 12 months) and pay required fee.
  4. Permit issued digitally, valid only around your educational institution zones.

Processing takes up to two working days. Renewal is managed digitally via the app.

Why it matters

Dubai residents face rising parking costs due to variable peak-hour tariffs, which can reach Dh 6 per hour in premium spots in zones A–D. Frequent student commuters have faced higher cumulative expenses.

  • The Parkin student pass at Dh 100/month provides a dramatic discount, claiming up to 80% savings.
  • The RTA student card offers flexibility and official registration with longer use periods.
  • Both initiatives support affordable mobility for students and simplify campus commutes.

Dubai’s latest student parking subscription, launched at Dh 100/month for Parkin-managed zones, pairs well with the longer-term RTA seasonal student parking card options both offering savings and convenience tailored to student lifestyles. Whether opting for monthly flexibility or semester-long coverage, students can now enjoy structured, legal, and affordable parking near campus.

FAQ

  • 1. Can I park anywhere with the student pass?

You may park only in zones A, B, C, or D, within 500 meters of your campus.

  • 2. Is the Rp. 100 pass or RTA card better?

For short stays or month-to-month flexibility, Parkin’s Dh 100 pass is ideal. For semester validity and official documentation, RTA Student Cards are recommended.

  • 3. How long does permit processing take?

Both options typically process within two working days. RTA renewals are handled online.

  • 4. Do I need to own the car?

Not necessarily. RTA permits allow a vehicle registered under your traffic file, including relatives’ cars. Parkin requires student ID and campus proximity verification.

  • 5. What happens if I switch vehicles?

RTA allows linking up to 3 vehicles under one permit (only one vehicle active at a time). Premium zones are covered only in the student permit area. Parkin may restrict usage to one vehicle and specific campus area.
