The recent surge in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) has investors excited, but market experts are urging caution, especially in the unlisted space. ET Now spoke with Sunny Agrawal from SBI Cap Securities to understand whether valuations in the unlisted segment have stretched and if investors should be careful.

Sunny Agrawal said, “In the unlisted space, companies with strong management or brand recall often see valuations go overboard. People hope to gain at listing regardless of the price, so one needs to be cautious. Even large brands require proper study before investing. NSE, for example, created massive wealth, but recently we’ve seen sharp corrections compared to IPO prices.”

On the current IPO trend, Agrawal added, “Many companies are getting listed, but it’s hard to find value. Most issues are fully priced, leaving little room for listing gains. A few businesses may be good long-term investments, but for most new investors, value is limited.”

Experts stress that investors should not be swayed by brand names alone. Proper valuation analysis and caution remain key to navigating the unlisted space successfully.
