NDA Vs INDIA Bloc In VP Elections: How Numbers Stack Up in Radhakrishnan vs Reddy Showdown?

The Vice Presidential election will take place on September 9, with voting from 10 am to 5 pm and counting starting at 6 pm. The NDA’s candidate, C.P. Radhakrishnan, faces off against Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, backed by the INDIA bloc. The electoral college includes 233 elected Rajya Sabha MPs, 12 nominated Rajya Sabha MPs, and 543 Lok Sabha MPs. With the support of 422 MPs, the NDA holds a strong position. Meanwhile, the BRS and BJD parties have chosen to abstain from voting, keeping their stance neutral. The INDIA bloc views the election as a crucial battle to defend democracy and constitutional values. Leaders from JD(U), Shiv Sena, TDP, CPI, and DMK have stressed the significance of the election, highlighting that it goes beyond politics and focuses on safeguarding the country’s democratic ideals.
