Shares of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles rose 2.9% to hit an intraday high of Rs 362.80 on Wednesday, November 26, after the company unveiled the highly anticipated 2025 Sierra SUV in India.

The new model marks the return of the iconic 1990s Sierra brand in a completely re-engineered avatar, targeting the fast-growing mid-size SUV market.

Tata Motors introduced the 2025 Sierra with an introductory price of Rs 11.49 lakh. Bookings are set to begin on December 16, 2025, while customer deliveries are scheduled to start from January 15, 2026.

The pricing strategy, keeping the base variant below Rs 15 lakh, positions the Sierra competitively against popular models like Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Creta, and Mahindra Scorpio.

The new Sierra will be available in seven variants: Smart Plus, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Adventure Plus, and Accomplished. Buyers will also be able to choose from six exterior colour themes, including Bengal Rouge, Andaman Adventure, Coorg Clouds, Munnar Mist, Mintal Grey, and Pristine White. A Dark Edition model with an all-black exterior theme is also in the works.

The 2025 lineup offers three powertrain options:

  • A 1.5-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine delivering 118 hp and 280 Nm of torque
  • A 1.5-litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol unit with 106 hp and 145 Nm
  • A 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine producing 160 hp and 260 Nm

Transmission options include 6MT, 7DCA, and 6AT configurations. Additionally, Tata Motors has confirmed that an all-wheel drive (AWD) variant will join the lineup at a later stage. The company is expected to announce a full price list for all variants in December.Ahead of the official launch, some dealers had already begun accepting expressions of interest from customers with small token amounts, starting from as low as Rs 11,000. While these are not official bookings, they signal strong early demand for the model.

Brokerage reviews

Post the launch, global brokerage firm Nomura reiterated its Neutral rating on the stock, with a target price of Rs 395.

Nomura highlights the Sierra as a key growth driver for PV volumes, calling it a modernized, feature-rich vehicle that is aggressively priced. With anticipated monthly sales of around 10,000 units and a production plan of 12,000–15,000 units per month, the Sierra is positioned to benefit from the shift in consumer demand toward premium models, aided by GST cuts.

They estimate Sierra volumes of 609k in FY26F, 682k in FY27F, and 723k in FY28F (translating to 50k/57k/60k per month), which could provide a meaningful upside to Tata Motors’ PV growth projections for FY26–28.

Further, domestic brokerage firm Emkay Global has reiterated its ‘Add’ rating on Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) with an unchanged target price of Rs 400, stating that its estimates remain intact.

According to Emkay Global, management considers the new Sierra a critical portfolio bridge to the rapidly expanding midsize SUV segment. The brokerage notes that the model is expected to lift Tata Motors’ SUV market share from 16.9% to 20–25%.

Emkay highlights that, backed by strong post-GST demand momentum, TMPV is targeting double-digit growth in FY26 and plans to expand the Sierra lineup with EV and AWD variants. Given the segment size and the company’s brand strength, Emkay believes the Sierra has the potential to scale up to around 5,000 units per month, offering upside to current volume estimates.
