He added that Tejashwi avoids mentioning his father Lalu Yadav’s tenure. “If he takes his (Lalu Yadav’s) name or puts up his picture, it will lead to embarrassment,” Manjhi said.

Union Minister Jeetan Ram Manjhi launched a sharp attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, saying he “does not understand the Constitution.” Speaking at News18 Sabse Bada Dangal Bihar 2025, Manjhi said Tejashwi often claims to have brought major changes to the state during his tenure as deputy chief minister, “but that is not possible.”

He added that Tejashwi avoids mentioning his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure. “If he takes his (Lalu Yadav’s) name or puts up his picture, it will lead to embarrassment,” Manjhi said.

Speaking on seat sharing, Manjhi said, “We have made a compromise.” Referring to posters projecting Tejashwi Yadav as a ‘leader’, he remarked, “This is like blowing one’s own trumpet. A title holds value only when given by society. If you start calling yourself a leader or a people’s leader, it is an insult to that term.”

On dynastic politics, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) leader said, “If someone with no political experience is suddenly declared a leader or given a position, it is unacceptable.” Defending his son’s political involvement, he added, “He is educated, a professor, and has worked at the grassroots level. Only after that did he come forward to assist me.”

Speaking on Rahul Gandhi, Jitan Ram Manjhi dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “dancing” remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that “his comments should not be taken seriously“. Speaking at the event, Manjhi said political discourse should focus on issues that matter to the people rather than personal jibes.

As Bihar gears up for the 2025 assembly elections, News18 hosted its special programme Sabse Bada Dangal Bihar 2025 on Wednesday, featuring prominent political figures and policymakers.
