The Congress government in Telangana has set its sights firmly on the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election in Hyderabad. For Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, this is not just another electoral contest —  it is  a prestige battle that could define his early tenure and strengthen the party’s hold on the state.

Why Jubilee Hills Matters

The by-election comes at a critical time. Jubilee Hills is one of Hyderabad’s most high-profile constituencies, home to influential voters and a mix of urban challenges. Winning this would not only cement the Congress’s political standing but also serve as a public endorsement of Revanth Reddy’s leadership since taking over as Chief Minister.

The Strategy Meeting

On Sunday, Revanth Reddy convened a closed-door strategy session at his residence with senior leaders, ministers, and party functionaries. Among those present were Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud, several state ministers, MPs, GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi, and heads of government corporations.

The message from the Chief Minister was blunt: “The Congress must win this seat — and everyone must work for it.”

Door-to-Door Campaigns, Booth-Level Plans

The Congress’s blueprint focuses on grassroots mobilisation. Leaders have been instructed to:

  • Go door to door, explaining the government’s welfare schemes and development projects.
  • Address hyper-local issues — from water supply to electricity problems — with booth-specific action plans.
  • Ensure real-time monitoring of campaign effectiveness and fix shortcomings immediately.

Revanth also stressed that staying visible in the field: “We should be at the ground level, connect with people in every division, and win their trust.”

Selling Welfare As A Weapon

Congress leaders believe welfare is their strongest card. Special focus will be placed on:

  • Schemes for women and farmers, a core vote base.
  • Infrastructure development in Hyderabad, including housing projects.
  • Expansion of roads, water supply, and electricity networks.

The goal is to project the Congress government as a problem-solving administration that listens to citizens’ grievances and acts swiftly.

The Prestige Factor

For the Congress, victory in Jubilee Hills is symbolic. This is the first major by-election since Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister, and a win would:

  • Boost the party’s morale and grassroots confidence.
  • Strengthen the government’s image as stable and people-centric.
  • Signal to rivals that Congress has consolidated its urban base.

Leaders see this not merely as winning one constituency, but as laying the foundation for a stronger Congress in Telangana.

What’s Next?

The by-election campaign will be intensive, with ministers, MLAs, MPs, and party workers all deployed in Jubilee Hills. The Congress is betting that its welfare narrative, combined with a door-to-door push, will tilt the scales in its favour.

For Revanth Reddy, the stakes are personal — victory would confirm his leadership strength, while defeat could hand ammunition to the opposition.
