Criticising senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his opposition to the ongoing voter list revision in poll-bound Bihar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said the opposition leader has been campaigning for “ghuspaithiya“, by which he meant illegal immigrants.

Shah said the BJP fully supports the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, which is being conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

He, however, accused the opposition of attempting to win elections on the back of appeasement politics and said he wants people to identify those who wanted “infiltrators” to remain on voter lists.

“BJP supports the special intensive revision exercise to cleanse electoral rolls. Rahul baba ‘ghuspaithiya bachao’ rally nikaal rahe hain (Rahul Gandhi is taking out rallies in support of infiltrators). I want people to recognise such people and parties that want infiltrators to remain on voter lists so that they can win elections with the help of infiltrators,” Shah said during the inauguration and foundation-laying of various projects in New Delhi on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

‘ONLY PERSON IN COUNTRY WHO HAS NEVER TAKEN VACATION’

Hailing Modi as a “symbol of sacrifice and dedication”, Shah claimed that he is the “only person in the country who has never taken a vacation.

“Working under Modi’s leadership for years, I have seen that he is the only person in the country who has never taken a vacation… Because of this, the 11th-ranked economy that Manmohan Singh left behind has now reached the fourth position. People of Delhi, be prepared; by 2027, we will have become the third-largest economy in the world…” he said, while heaping praise on Modi.

Watch the full speech here:

He spoke about how India has taken bold decisions under the Prime Minister’s leadership — from ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan and the abrogation of Article 370 to the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and, now, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms.

“Be it securing the country’s borders, surgical strikes, air strikes, and finally giving a befitting reply to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor, PM Modi has done it all. For years, we all wanted a Ram Mandir to be built in Ayodhya… The temple has been built, Ram Lalla has been installed, and people all over the world are rejoicing today…” he added.

‘140 CRORE PEOPLE HIS FAMILY’

Calling Modi the world’s most popular leader, Shah said he only works for the welfare of the people and this is evident in how he has never discriminated against non-BJP governments.

“Rekha Gupta was just saying that PM Modi has never discriminated between the BJP government or any other government. He’s given Delhi more than it deserved, even when Arvind Kejriwal’s government was here… PM Modi considers 140 crore people his family and dedicated his entire life to their welfare,” he said.

He said it is the PM’s aim to secure the nation, develop it economically, bring new energy, enthusiasm, and convenience to every poor person’s home, and instil the resolve of a great India in every child’s mind.

“PM Modi has accomplished all this in his 11 years. The country will long remember these accomplishments of PM Modi…” he added.

Shah further said on the occasion of the PM’s birthday, the BJP has started a new tradition of caring for the welfare of each person during ‘Seva Pakhwada’.

“… Today, every citizen of the country, and Indians spread across the world, are heartily praying to God for PM Modi’s long life, good health, and for his long-term service to the nation… It was decided to celebrate the birthday of the man whose life’s glory and every fibre of his being is dedicated to the service of Mother India, as ‘Seva Pakhwada’. For 11 years, all of India has been observing this ‘Seva Pakhwada’ from September 17th to October 2nd…” he said.

Earlier in the day, he extended his greetings to Modi on his 75th birthday and said he remains an inspiration for crores of Indians.

“Symbol of sacrifice and dedication, inspiration for crores of countrymen, heartfelt birthday wishes to Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji on his 75th birthday. Modi ji, who has been working tirelessly, without stopping or tiring, for the welfare of the countrymen for more than five decades in social life, is a living inspiration of ‘Nation First’ for every citizen,” he wrote in a post on X.
