'This is Dubai': Resident cheers road authority for swift pothole fix reported on Instagram

A Dubai resident has highlighted the efficiency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) after a pothole he reported in Al Nahda 1 was repaired in just 11 days. Photographer Raihan Hamid shared on Instagram how he contacted the RTA on October 9, sending photos of the large bump that posed a risk to vehicles. Hamid wrote in his message to the RTA: “I wanted to bring to your attention that there’s a large and deep bump on the road in Al Nahda 1 Dubai. It’s quite severe and could potentially cause damage to vehicles.” The RTA responded promptly, requesting his name, address, and the exact location. By the next day, Hamid was informed that the complaint had been officially registered and forwarded to the relevant department.

Problem resolved in 11 days

On October 20, Hamid shared a photo showing that the pothole had been fixed. He praised the city’s responsiveness on Instagram, stating:“This is Dubai. A city that listens, acts, and truly cares. I reported a road issue in Al Nahda and within just 11 days, RTA fixed it. That’s not just efficiency, that’s responsibility in action. Proud to call this city home.”This incident reflects RTA’s commitment to swift resolution of public complaints, a hallmark of its service over 20 years of operation and innovation.

Reporting made easy via WhatsApp

Besides Instagram and other social media channels, residents can now report infrastructure issues conveniently through RTA’s dedicated WhatsApp service. By adding +971 58 800 9090, users can interact with Mahboub, the RTA chatbot. The service allows users to report damage to pavements, bus shelters, traffic signals, directional signs, and other infrastructure assets. Mahboub also supports parking payments, service updates, and customer inquiries. Users can capture and send photos directly, simplifying the reporting process and encouraging community participation in maintaining Dubai’s infrastructure.

Community participation makes a difference

This is not the first time social media has helped accelerate repairs. On September 22, 2025, a resident reported a pothole in Al Karama via Instagram. The RTA responded immediately, and the road was fully repaired within two days, ensuring smooth traffic flow. These examples demonstrate how the RTA’s responsive approach, combined with active community engagement, contributes to safer, well-maintained roads across Dubai.
