Trump names Sergio Gor as next US ambassador to India: Calls him key aide; senate confirmation awaited

US President Donald Trump on Friday announced that Sergio Gor, the current director of the White House Presidential personnel office, will be the next US ambassador to India and special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.Trump made the announcement through a post on his social media platform Truth Social. Gor will continue in his current role at the White House until he is confirmed by the US Senate.“I am pleased to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gor to be our next United States Ambassador to the Republic of India, and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs,” Trump said in the post, calling Gor “a great friend” and “someone I can fully trust to deliver on my agenda.”

Gor has held key roles in Trump’s political orbit, including working on his past presidential campaigns, managing one of the largest pro-Trump Super PACs, and publishing Trump’s best-selling books. As director of personnel, Trump credited Gor with helping fill over 95% of federal government positions.“For the most populous Region in the World, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust… Sergio will make an incredible Ambassador,” Trump added.
