Rise to wealth and power
Jeffrey Epstein was born and raised in New York. In the mid-1970s, he taught maths and physics at the private Dalton School, despite never graduating from university himself. His connection to wealth began when a parent of one of his students introduced him to a senior partner at Wall Street investment bank Bear Stearns. Donald Trump once described Epstein as a “terrific guy” in a 2002 New York magazine profile, saying: “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
Allegations and controversial plea deal
Epstein’s criminal activities began coming to light in 2005 when the parents of a 14-year-old girl reported he had molested their daughter at his Palm Beach home.
