Trump’s 2024 Epstein remarks resurface: Uncut video sparks outrage; social media users say ‘Kamala should sue’

A clip from a 2024 Fox News interview with US President Donald Trump is now making waves online, after social media users accused the network of editing his remarks about Jeffrey Epstein. The full version of the interview is now widely circulated and has led many to call for former US vice president Kamala Harris to consider legal action, just as Trump did in a similar case last year, reports the Wrap. In the edited version of the clip shared online, Trump is asked whether he would declassify the Epstein files and simply replies, “Yeah, yeah, I would.” The clip ends there. However, the unedited version shows a longer and different response.

Trump’s uncut answer on the Epstein question

In the uncut version of the interview, which has resurfaced across social media platforms, Trump was asked about releasing files related to Jeffrey Epstein. He responded, “Yeah, yeah, I would. I guess I would. I think that less so, because you don’t know — you don’t want to affect people’s lives if it’s phony stuff in there, because it’s a lot of phony stuff with that whole world. But I think I would.” The clip has led to backlash from both Trump supporters and his critics. The Trump administration is already under pressure after the justice department recently claimed it had no “client list” in its Epstein documents. This directly contradicted a February statement from Trump’s attorney general Pam Bondi, who had claimed on Fox News that she had the list “sitting on her desk.”

Trump sued CBS over edited Harris interview

The controversy is similar to what happened last year when Trump sued CBS for election interference. The network had aired an edited version of Kamala Harris’s interview, cutting down one of her long answers to make it sound more clear and direct.Trump argued the edit made Harris appear more capable than she was and ultimately led to CBS News’ parent company, Paramount, paying $16 million in a July 2024 settlement. Now, with Trump’s own interview reportedly edited by Fox News, many are calling for Harris to file a lawsuit of her own.Political reporter David Weigel posted the uncut video and wrote on X, “As edits for broadcast go, this clearly did more good for Trump than the ‘60 Minutes’ cut did for Harris.”
