A top Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) source has confirmed that actor-turned-politician and party chief Vijay is likely to contest from two seats in the Tamil Nadu 2026 assembly elections.
According to the sources, Vijay has finalised Virugambakkam constituency in Chennai as his electoral battleground. The actor-turned-politician is also expected to file his nomination from Trichy East, signaling a strategic push to expand his party’s presence across key urban and regional strongholds.
The confirmation comes amid widespread speculation about the actor’s political debut at the state level.
Earlier, Vijay stated that his party, the TVK, has emerged as a major political force with the backing of the people and claimed it is the only party capable of defeating the DMK in the upcoming elections.
Vijay dismissed speculations of a triangular or multi-cornered contest, stating that the true electoral battle would be a straight fight between the TVK and the ruling DMK, which he confidently predicted would face defeat.
“People talk about triangular or four-corner contests. One is represented by the TVK backed by the people, the second is DMK, and the third is BJP and its many allies. Only the TVK, which is a people’s force alone can defeat the DMK,” he added.
