The much-anticipated results of the May 2025 International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations have been released today, with schools across the UAE beginning the process of compiling and reviewing scores. However, individual student results will be made available at a later stage, allowing schools some time to assess the data and share it with their respective communities.

Overview of IB Schools in the UAE

The UAE remains a key player in the global IB community, with a strong presence of IB World Schools. As of 2025, the country is home to 66 IB World Schools. These institutions offer a diverse range of IB programmes, with 39 schools providing the Primary Years Programme (PYP), 31 offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP), 59 delivering the Diploma Programme (DP), and 22 schools offering the Career-related Programme (CP). This widespread adoption of the IB curriculum highlights the country’s commitment to providing high-quality, internationally recognized education.

IB’s Upcoming Announcement

In an official statement shared with the media, the IB board confirmed that additional information about the results will be made available at 14:00 CEST on 7 July 2025. This announcement is eagerly anticipated, as it will provide further insights into the trends and performance metrics from this year’s cycle of exams.

Spotlight on Top Performers in the UAE

In 2024, Sunmarke School, part of the Fortes Education group, continued to solidify its position as one of the UAE’s top IB institutions. The school earned the 69th spot globally in the Global Top IB Schools rankings for the 2023-24 academic year. In the UAE specifically, Sunmarke School ranked third for average IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) points, further underscoring its reputation for academic excellence. These rankings, compiled by IB-Schools.com, highlight the highest-performing schools offering the IB Diploma Programme around the world.The IB Diploma Programme is known for its rigor, and schools like Sunmarke are consistently pushing the envelope in terms of student success. The 2024 rankings placed Sunmarke School in a strong position both regionally and globally, reaffirming the UAE’s prominence in the international education space.The results from the global 2024 IB examinations showed impressive statistics. Worldwide, the IB recorded a pass rate of 80%, with the average score standing at 30.32 points. In terms of the Diploma Programme (IBDP), the mean grade was 4.85. These numbers demonstrate the level of academic achievement that the IB programme is designed to foster. Additionally, a total of 8,539 students from around the world earned a score of 40 points or more, a mark that signifies outstanding performance within the programme.
