The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast changing weather conditions across the UAE from Thursday, August 21 to Sunday, August 24, 2025. The four-day period will see partly to fully cloudy skies in several regions, with chances of rainfall, particularly in the eastern and southern areas. Winds are expected to strengthen at intervals, and both Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea waters will remain slight to moderate.

Weather forecast overview – August 21 to 24

The NCM, operating under the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, has released a detailed four-day weather outlook covering Thursday through Sunday. Each day brings slightly shifting conditions across various regions:

Thursday, August 21, 2025

  • Skies: Partly cloudy to cloudy at times.
  • Rainfall: Possibility of convective cloud formation in eastern and southern areas, which may lead to rainfall.
  • Winds: Southeasterly to northeasterly winds ranging from light to moderate, freshening at times. Speeds between 10–25 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 45 km/h.
  • Marine Conditions: The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

Friday, August 22, 2025

  • Skies: Fair to partly cloudy, with intermittent cloudiness especially in eastern and southern regions.
  • Rainfall: Continued chance of rain, along with a notable decrease in temperature.
  • Winds: Southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, strengthening during the daytime. Speeds between 10–25 km/h, peaking at 35 km/h.
  • Marine Conditions: Seas will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Saturday, August 23, 2025

  • Skies: Fair to partly cloudy, with patches of cloud over southern parts.
  • Rainfall: Cloud development may persist, but rainfall chances appear lower.
  • Winds: Southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, strengthening during daytime. Wind speeds will range between 10–25 km/h, reaching up to 35 km/h.
  • Marine Conditions: Seas are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
  • Skies: Fair to partly cloudy throughout the day. By night, cloud cover is expected to increase over northern and eastern regions.
  • Rainfall: Cloud formations may potentially bring localized showers.
  • Winds: Similar wind patterns continue—southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, with occasional daytime strengthening. Speeds will again range between 10–25 km/h, with maximums up to 35 km/h.
  • Marine Conditions: Slight sea conditions are expected in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Meteorological authority and its role

The weather forecast is issued by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the official meteorological authority in the UAE. Established in March 2007, the NCM functions under the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. The NCM is tasked with:

  • Daily weather forecasting and issuing alerts for adverse conditions.
  • Using advanced meteorological technologies in collaboration with international agencies.
  • Conducting cloud seeding operations aimed at increasing rainfall, an essential program for improving water sustainability in the region.

Through timely updates and scientific monitoring, the NCM plays a central role in climate management, public safety, and weather-related advisories across the UAE.

What residents should know

As the UAE moves into a period of slightly unstable weather conditions, residents and travelers should keep the following in mind:

  • Dust and Sand: Winds strengthening during the daytime may result in blowing dust and sand, particularly on Thursday, August 21. This could affect visibility and outdoor comfort.
  • Rain Possibility: Though rainfall is not guaranteed every day, the eastern and southern areas are most likely to see showers, especially on Thursday and Friday.
  • Sea Safety: Despite generally slight to moderate conditions, those planning marine activities should stay updated on forecasts as sea conditions can change with wind intensification.
  • Temperature Drop: A noticeable decrease in temperature is expected by Friday, which could offer temporary relief from peak summer heat.
