'Unemployment got me': Ilhan Omar's daughter sells clothes on thrifting platform, says she has no money
Ilhan Omar’s daughter starts selling used clothes as she has no money, no job.

Rep Ilhan Omar’s daughter Isra Hisri, who was arrested for a pro-Palestine campus protest and then got suspended from her college, took to social media to announce that she has no money and so she has to sell her used clothes to pay her bills. ‘Unemployment got me,’ she said, adding that she is selling her clothes on thrifting platform Depop. Hisri was suspended from Columbia University’s liberal arts college, Barnard College, after she was arrested during a demonstration that turned hostile. Later, Barnard took her back and she graduated from the same college. At the graduation program, she held a Palestinian flag on the stage when she collected her diploma. On Instagram, she said that she finally got her graduation “despite what Barnard, Columbia and the internet wanted.“When Hirsi graduated earlier this year, Omar said in a statement she was ‘overwhelmed with joy and gratitude’ at getting to see her daughter collect her diploma despite her suspension. “It’s been an incredible four years of tremendous growth and challenges as she navigated college life through a pandemic, move to NYC and a righteous fight against Columbia University’s support of genocide,” Omar wrote. “I am so proud of you, Isra and I can’t wait to see you flourish in the real world.”But now Hisri is struggling to pay the bills and listed a pair of Dr Marten boots for $50 and skirts for $15. It’s not known whether Hisri’s unemployment is anyway connected to her campus protest and several top law firms and American CEOs have vowed not to hire graduates who engaged in discrimination or harassment of Jewish students during anti-Israel college protests that swept the nation in late 2023 and 2024.
