The White House asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ‘tone down’ the criticism and ‘sign that deal’ after his comments about Donald Trump accepting Russian disinformation.
During a Fox News broadcast, White House national security adviser Mike Waltz urged Zelenskyy to ‘tone it down and take a hard look and sign that deal’ concerning Ukraine’s wartime aid, Daily Mail reported.
High-level US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia this week—held without Ukraine’s participation. The talks, which coincide with continued Russian strikes on Ukraine’s infrastructure, have also exposed growing friction between Zelenskyy and Trump, whose administration is pressuring Kyiv to accept a proposed minerals deal that would grant the US access to valuable natural resources in exchange for economic and security commitments.
Waltz highlighted the significant opportunity for Ukraine to secure investment in its economy and resources, suggesting this would provide better security than additional military supplies.
