Kai-Ji Adam Lo, the 30-year-old deranged man, who mowed over 11 people and injured several others at the Lapu Lapu Day festival, lives in a house that was recently visited by police, reports claimed. Earlier, police said he was known to police and he had an extensive history of mental illness while the motive behind his attack still remains shrouded in mystery.
Neighbors told Canadian media that police were often seen at the house and the last visit was as recent as earlier this month. Online posts made for online fundraising efforts claimed Lo lives in an environment beset by tragedy.
The house is in Vancouver’s Victoria-Fraserview neighborhood populated by immigrants from China and the Philippines. It is a severe-minute drive from where the incident took place.
Who are there in Adam Lo’s family?
Globe and Mail reported that the family consists of Lo and his mother. They moved in more than a decade ago and their father died not long after they arrived in this locality. Lo’s brother Alexander died last year.
Lo’s mother corresponded with neighbours in Chinese. A Facebook account that appears to belong to Lo says he is from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the report said.
No one knows why the police used to visit their house but it could be in connection with his brother’s mysterious death. His brother Alexander was found dead on January 28, 2024 in a home two kilometres from where the family lives. One person was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with his brother’s death.
One neighbor told the outlet that police asked for security camera footage. The sound of yelling also used to come from their house. Lo used to shout at his mother; he was probably not violent but he exhibited signs of anxiety, the report said citing neighbors.
One neighbor said Lo remains tense and nervous, scared that something might hurt him. After his brother’s death, his mother attempted suicide and was taken into intensive care.
