The group reportedly parked a stolen truck outside the museum and used a construction lift to reach a second-floor window. They cut through the glass with an angle grinder before entering the Apollo Gallery. The alarm was triggered, but only reached guards focused on visitor safety.Inside the museum, another video shows the thieves casually cutting through a glass case while stunned guests looked on. They tried to set fire to their mobile ladder before fleeing, but failed. Furthermore, the burglars accidentally dropped an emerald-set imperial crown containing more than 1,300 diamonds that belonged to Empress Eugenie.The robbers abandoned the truck and its keys before escaping. A motorcycle helmet and a glove belonging to one of the criminals were recovered, but none of the suspects has been identified so far, authorities told Le Parisien.
